TAYO Annual Youth Awards Launches 8th Search in SM Manila PDF Print E-mail

The SM Manila Events Center was filled with throngs of youth last March 23, 2010 for the launching of the 8th Search for the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO).

In attendance were Senator Kiko Pangilinan, TAYO Foundation president Bam Aquino, current and past NYC Chairmen Christopher Arnuco and Richie Nalupta, Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines President Cecile Alcantara, SM Supermalls Regional Operations Manager Royston Cabuñag and DSWD NCR Regional Director Alicia Bonoan.

A number of former TAYO-recognized organizations were also present to encourage the youth organizations present to join the TAYO search this year.  And what’s a better way to showcase the caliber of TAYO-awarded orgs but by spectacular dance numbers?  Sining Bulakenyo, a multiple-awarded youth dance company and TAYO awardee in 2005, gave brilliant doxology and intermission numbers to the delight of the crowd.

Aside from messages from the program implementers, partners and supporters, the short program also aimed to entertain.  Kley band performed several rock songs to the delight of the crowd.

With its partnership with SM Supermalls and SM Cares, TAYO will soon be launched in other areas of the country.  Preparations are already underway for the TAYO launches in SM branches in Baguio, Naga, Rosales, Iloilo, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro and Davao cities.

TAYO Awards is hailed as the country’s leading search for outstanding groups of young Filipinos that are instrumental in the development of the country through simple, worthwhile and notable projects implemented in their communities.  It is now accepting entries from interested youth groups, organizations, clubs and societies whose membership and leadership are composed of at least 15 members who are 15-30 years old.

Has your youth organization done a project or activity that helped your community, school or other beneficiaries?  You might just be one of the TAYO Awardees this year.  At stake is a cash grant of P50,000.00 which will be given to ten youth organizations nationwide.
