Kanlaon Theater Guild
Project Dangup is the flagship project of the Kanlaon Theater Guild of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod that aims to impart awareness on disaster risk reduction and management through series of short, interactive, and mobile plays. Dangup is a Hiligaynon word which means to take refuge, shelter or sanctuary. The organization started this project in 2014 as a response to the call on disaster risk reduction and management after the devastation brought about by typhoon Yolanda and the earthquake in Bohol. The first play created by the group is entitled “Si Iska Nga Permi Handa” which deals with safety measures before, during, and after typhoon. While the second play is called “Si Tonyo Alisto” which tackles how to deal with post-earthquake scenarios.
The group first performed the plays in the Municipalities of Carles and Estancia, two heavily hit towns in the Province of Iloilo after Yolanda. Since then, the organization has been performing the plays in different towns, cities and schools in Negros Occidental.
